Full circle moments and the joy of giving back
Let's make a difference.
Hi friend,
A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned donating a portion of the proceeds from my dress sales to a children's home in the Dominican Republic. Your response was overwhelming! So many of you expressed interest in donating directly, and it really touched me. ❤️ I've been working on a way to make that possible, and I'm so excited to share it with you!
I visited Colegio Hogar Infantil Corazón de Jesús during my recent trip to the DR. I had the chance to meet some of the girls who live there and chat with the amazing nuns who dedicate their lives to creating a safe and nurturing environment for them. The nuns shared how government funding and their usual door-to-door fundraising efforts have become more challenging, and they're facing some urgent needs—everything from basic hygiene items and healthy food to larger necessities like a new walk-in cooler.
A little more about this special place: Colegio Hogar Infantil Corazón de Jesús operates under the Hermanas Misioneras del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, a religious organization committed to providing a loving home and a well-rounded education to children in need. Many of these girls have been abandoned, removed from unsafe situations, or have parents struggling with substance abuse. This home is a refuge, a safe haven where they can heal, learn, grow, and dream big dreams.
Their mission is incredibly close to my heart and deeply personal to my family. My mom nearly became a nun herself when she was younger and has remained close friends with the nuns who run this home. They work tirelessly to care for and uplift these children.
Growing up, my sister (who's just 15 months older than me) and I spent a couple of nights at the home each summer. I remember those visits weren't exactly optional! At the time, we didn't fully understand why we had to go, but looking back, I see how intentional my parents were about grounding us and giving us perspective. They wanted us to learn the value of service from a young age. During our stays, we'd help out, play with the girls, and form genuine connections. Many of them were our age, facing challenges we could hardly imagine. I’m so grateful for those experiences. |
To make donating easy and secure, we've partnered with Donorbox. The best part: 100% of your donation goes directly to Colegio Hogar Infantil Corazón de Jesús, helping these girls thrive.
Even if you're unable to donate right now, please know you can still make a huge difference! Sharing this cause on your social media platforms helps us reach a wider audience and connect with those who may be able to contribute financially.
And if you are able to donate, share that too! Every bit of exposure helps. If we pull together, we can truly make a difference in the lives of these deserving girls. Tag me at @msnewslady so I can see your posts and thank you personally!
Trust, I'll keep you updated on this initiative in future newsletters, and I'll be sharing more about other exciting projects we're working on. Thank you for your generosity and for being a part of this journey. Honestly, it means the world to me.
Sending you love and gratitude!

I went to five different high schools across two states, and the experience was…a rollercoaster. But it also taught me a lot about myself, other people, and the power of genuine friendships.
